Patrick Ukah wins prestigious NIPR Council Membership seat

The Director General of the Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, has been elected as a member of the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

The election, which was held Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the ongoing Annual General Meeting (AGM) of NIPR in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, was conducted electronically for the first time in the institute’s history and was judged credible and transparent.

The election had a total of 738 delegates accredited, with 518 persons voting, representing 71% of voters. Out of 20 candidates screened for the election, 17 contested, while three opted out. The President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, was re-elected with a total of 518 votes, the Vice President secured 468 votes, and Chief Patrick Ukah garnered 422 votes.

The Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of the Institute, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe, who was also elevated as a Fellow of the Institute, said Chief Ukah’s victory is a joy to the Delta Chapter, as he becomes the pioneer Council member from the state.

The Secretary of the chapter, Comrade Emmanuel Enebeli, said this victory is a significant milestone for the Delta Chapter, attributing it to Chief Ukah’s competence and good leadership, which had single-handedly revived and repositioned NIPR in the state.

 He added that Chief Ukah meritoriously deserved the position.
