Barrister Eugene Uzum, the Convener of Ika Village Square has called
on all Social and political leaders in Ika ethnic nationalities,
including the Igbankes in Edo State to unite as one entity for the
survival and development of Ika nation.
Barr. Uzum, who made the call when the new leadership and members of
Ika People’s Congress paid him a courtesy visit in his country home in
Asaba, Delta State, said that this has become necessary in order for
the Ika nation to take its proper position in the comity of ethnic
nationalities in the country ahead of Ika interests.
He emphasized the need for the Ika people, irrespective of political
affiliation to rally round the leadership and
members of Ika People’s Congress for the good of all.
The strategist called on every sons and daughters of the
Ika nation to enroll as members of the Ika People’s Congress, to
collectively take responsibilities for the rapid development of the
Ika nation.
Barr. Uzum, who is the immediate past Chairman of the
organization, pointed out that the forum is physically and politically
ready to take the Ika nation to the next level of development, and
called on the leadership of the organization to show transparency at all times
all its dealings with its members.
The one- time Special Adviser on State Orientation, also called on the
organization to be concious of the majority and minority positions in throwing their views on the issue of
the agitation for the creation of Anioma State, stating that in as
much as he welcomed the majority view on the state creation, the
minority views should also be considered so as to have a collective appraisal of views.
Speaking earlier, the newly elected chairman of Ika People’s Congress,
Mr. Williams Eghebi, commended Barrister Eugene Uzum for his
leadership qualities, saying that the successes he left behind would
be built upon.
Mr. Eghebi, a seasoned journalist per excellence gave the assurance that the present executive would toe the
steps of patriots in ensuring a vibrant Ika Nation. He streesed that his leadership will promote unity, onenes and promote Ika interests atball times. He said the body will make their position known on state creation and other issues of interests. On the entourage with him was Eng Emmanuel Momah secretary to the BOT and Mr Izekor yhe financial secretary.
