Welcoming the legislators, Hon. Esewezie expressed gratitude for their visit and presented a detailed briefing on his administration’s performance over his first year in office. He highlighted the council’s development blueprint, the PUTA-IFE M.O.R.E Agenda, which aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda and focuses on economic empowerment, infrastructure, healthcare, security, and community development.
The Chairman pointed to landmark achievements including the construction of modern markets such as the Ugbolu Ultramodern Market with over 400 shops and facilities, the Ebu Modern Market with 150 shops, and the completed Ashia Okpulukpu Modern Market in Ibusa. He also mentioned the establishment of Subsidy Markets across the LGA to cushion hardship by selling essential goods at 50% discount.

Other strides listed include the completion of the Ashia-Eke/Umueze Road in Ibusa, youth empowerment and skill acquisition programmes, widows’ empowerment schemes, student bursaries, free medical care for over 1,500 beneficiaries, and the near completion of the Okpanam Cottage Hospital. On security, Esewezie noted the deployment of drones, CCTV installations, and strengthened community vigilante groups to maintain peace and order.
Following the address, the lawmakers were taken on a tour of selected projects across Oshimili North communities, where they commended the pace of development and assured the council of continued legislative support to enhance grassroots governance.
