OSLGA CHAIRMAN RECEIVES NUJ TRUTH CHAPEL ON COURTESY VISIT, MULLS PARTNERSHIP TO TACKLE DRUG ABUSE AND PROSTITUTION IN SCHOOLS

The Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili, recently received members of the Truth Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Asaba.

The visiting team, led by Comrade Chiedu Bandoh, Chairman of the Truth Chapel, was warmly welcomed by the Council Chairman in the company of the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Enebeli, and other members of the Council Executive Committee. The meeting held at the Council’s Executive Complex Conference Room, Asaba.

In his address, Comrade Bandoh commended the local government administration for its visible developmental strides and commitment to community service. He briefed the Chairman on the Chapel’s ongoing sensitization campaign against drug abuse and prostitution, which recently kicked off at West-End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba.

The NUJ Truth Chapel Chairman emphasized that the campaign aims to reorient young minds, curb rising social vices among students, and build a morally sound society. He appealed for the Council’s partnership and support to extend the sensitization programme to more schools and communities within Oshimili South.

Responding, Hon. Dr. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili lauded the initiative and commended the Truth Chapel for its proactive role in social advocacy and youth development. He described the campaign as a timely and worthy intervention, pledging the Council’s willingness to collaborate with the NUJ in addressing the menace of drug abuse and prostitution among youths.

“My administration is always open to partnerships that promote social welfare, youth enlightenment, and moral reorientation. We will look closely into ways the Council can support this laudable initiative to ensure it reaches a wider audience,” the Chairman stated.

The meeting ended on a cordial note, with both parties expressing optimism for a sustained collaboration between the local government and the media in advancing public enlightenment and community development within Oshimili South.
