The Burial Media and Publicity Committee of the late Distinguished Senator and legal luminary, Senator Barrister Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, has officially announced the programme of events for his final rites.

This announcement follows a meeting of the committee held on Monday, 2nd February 2026, at the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) Conference Room, Asaba, Delta State.
According to the released schedule, burial activities will span over two weeks and will commence on Thursday, 12th February 2026, with a Valedictory Session at the Senate Red Chambers of the National Assembly, Abuja, where serving and former lawmakers will pay tributes to the late Senator. On the same day, a Vigil Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja. Time is 6pm
A Night of Tributes has been scheduled for Tuesday, 24th February 2026, at the Dome Event Centre, GRA, Asaba. Time is 4pm The event will bring together dignitaries, political associates, family members, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate the life, service, and legacy of the former federal lawmaker.
While on the 26th Feb. 2026, a Service of Songs and Vigil Mass will take place at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Ibusa, commencing at 6:00 pm.
On Thursday, 27th February 2026, a Court Valedictory Session at the High Court Complex, GRA Asaba will be held in honour of Senator Nwaoboshi’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the Judiciary. Time is 10 am.
The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, 27th February 2026, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Ibusa, at 12:00 noon, after which interment will follow. A reception will be held at the Anioboshi Primary School Field, near the Federal Girls’ College, Ibusa, by 2:00 pm.
Traditional burial rites, including the Okanga and Ogbu dances, will take place on Saturday, 28th February 2026, alongside other customary ceremonies at His Isieke family home in Ibusa, in accordance with community traditions.
Then, Sunday, 1st of March is Thanksgiving Mass at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Ibusa, Delta state. Time is 9:30 am.
The Burial Media and Publicity Committee hereby calls on well-wishers, political associates, friends, colleagues, and members of the general public to take note of the programmes and participate in the burial activities to pay their final respects to the departed Senator.
The committee also expresses deep appreciation to all individuals and groups who have sent messages of condolence and support to the family, while praying for God’s abundant blessings upon them all.
