Delta Govt flags off presentation of relief items to victims of flood disaster

The Co-chairman of the State Flood Management Committee and Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Terry Etacherure has presented various relief items to flood victims from Oshimili South, Aniocha South, Burutu, and Isoko south Local Government Areas of Delta State.

The Commissioner, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, Prince Gregory Ejohwomu and the Director, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Mr. karo Ovemeso, presented the relief materials which included bags of rice, bags of beans, Detergents, gallons of groundnut oil, palm oil, bags of salt, cartons of seasoning and tin tomatoes to the representatives of the local government chairmen who were on ground to receive the items.

In his address, Etacherure averred that a while ago, the Delta State Government, through the State Emergency Management Agency, presented a vast number of relief items to the communities that were ravaged by last year’s flood.

The commissioner noted that the relief items presentation demonstrates Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s unwavering commitment to catering for all residents of the State.

The Commissioner admonished the representatives of the local government to ensure that the items got to the vulnerable among them and to give to those who had not benefited from the relief assistance programme.

In response, the Secretary to Aniocha South Local Government Council, Prince Tony Ebube, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the State Government for the enormous support and relentless contributions to cushion the effects of the disaster on the victims and assured that the items would get to the victims

According to him the initiative underscored Governor Oborevwori’s unwavering dedication to the welfare and prosperity of Deltans, reflecting his administration’s commitment to inclusive and compassionate governance.
