DTSG reaffirms commitment to repositioning state-owned media

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has reaffirmed the Governor Oborevwori administration’s resolve to reposition State-owned media platforms for greater efficiency.

Speaking at the Delta Broadcasters Media Conference in Asaba, with the theme “Broadcast Media: The Pathway to Unlocking Delta’s Possibilities,” Aniagwu disclosed that contracts had been awarded for equipment upgrades, and the government is actively working with manufacturers to resolve implementation delays.

“We are not folding our arms. The government is committed to breathing new life into our stations, and we’ve made considerable progress in reaching those who supply the needed broadcast equipment,” he said.

He debunked claims linking the decline of State media to partnerships with external outlets, urging broadcasters to embrace innovation and generate creative content to attract advertisers and reduce reliance on government subvention.

“Our media practitioners must start thinking beyond traditional models. Creativity is key to staying competitive in today’s dynamic media landscape,” he added.

The conference, which was held at the Unity Hall, government House, Asaba witnessed the convergence of top media professionals and stakeholders from across and beyond the State.
