The deplorable condition of the Onicha Ugbo/ Idumuje Ugboko/Abuja Federal road has become worrisome and urgently needed urgent intervention as commuters and residents within the axis has continued to groan daily due to the hardship in accessing the road.

The road which is a Federal road that spanned from Uromi in Edo State and connect Delta North down to the Eastern   States has been a major gate way to these parts of the country.

Following this, it has over the years been plied by heavy duty trucks, and ancillary vehicles, uninterrupted.

Recalled that in the year 2022, when such situation occurred on the  road  particularly  this  season which eventually  rendered  the  ever busy road inaccessible for close to one year, until Senator Ned Nwoko,(then not a Senator), came  to salvage the terrible  condition  of the particular axis.

Then the rehabilitation no doubt was greeted by all and sundry as it ended the cries of the motorists and particularly the residents in that locality as hope was rekindle and hardship reduced.

Also life became interesting and meaningful resonating with prayers and encomium continued to showered on Sen. Ned Nwoko.

Three years  down the lane, agony and traumatic  experience  resurfaced  again  and this time around the deplorable section extended to  unimaginable  stretch  covering over one kilometer towards the Benin- Asaba  Express way.

In an encounter with a retired Civil Engineer/Controller of Works, Federal Ministry of Works, Chief Festus Mafiana who is also a resident in that axis, in his words adduced that until a contracting company that is knowledgeable with vast experience on road construction was engaged, any work done again   would also amount to abysmal failure as it has been over the years.

He submitted  that the  road had continued  to erode in every  raining  season  due to the heavy  rain flowing  water  which  were subjected to  free flow along the road  as the dug  shallow  drainages  on both sides  had no discharge point.

The retired Engineer quarried that under ten years, the road had undergone two major rehabilitation that negated road construction principles and regulations.

In order to bring succor to those who ply the route and the residents alike, the State government should do well by intervening with a view to making the road viable again just as it has done in some other roads before now.
