Diokpa Moses Odozi Mordi, Fondly Known as ‘Tomato’, Passes Away at 97

The Ogbenti-Obi in Issele-Uku community mourns the passing of its esteemed elder, Diokpa Moses Odozi Mordi, affectionately known as “Tomato,” who died peacefully at the age of 97.

A revered figure in the community, Diokpa Mordi was widely respected for his wisdom, humility, and lifelong dedication to cultural values and unity. As the Diokpa, or patriarch, of his lineage, he played a vital role in maintaining the traditions and cohesion of the Ogbenti-Obi in Issele-Uku people.

His nickname, “Tomato,” fondly used by generations of locals, symbolized not only his distinct personality but also the affection in which he was held by all who knew him.

The community, led by traditional authorities and family members, is preparing for a befitting burial to honor his legacy. Details of the funeral rites will be announced in due course.
